General Information and Links
AA’s General Service Office has provided some online information that can be very helpful. They also have a full statement in PDF format here.
Tradition 12 (Anonymity) and online meetings has become an important topic during the pandemic. GSO has released a statement on using online resources and we’ve been adding links for district Zoom meetings.
We’ve compiled a list of tips and recommended settings from various sources about using Zoom as it is the most-used platform in the district. The default settings don’t comply with Tradition 12. This includes things like recording meetings by default and saving to the cloud, saving chat texts as well as other features that may make it difficult for people to join or feel safe joining. More information about all of the Zoom settings can be found here. Below find a list of recommended settings to consider:
- Require Encryption for Third Party Endpoints
- Disable Auto saving chats
- Disable File transfer
- Disable Feedback to Zoom
- Disable Screen sharing
- Disable desktop/screen share for users
- Disable Remote control
- Allow Virtual background (this is the Zoom default and allows the user to use a virtual background instead of the inside of their apartment, for example)
- Require password (though we have published passwords, this at least makes people crashing Zoom meetings more difficult)
- In the Zoom Settings section, under the Recording subtab:
- Disable Local recording
- Disable Cloud recording
- Disable Automatic recording
